Educational System of MHCS (Chinese) Compared to Chapter 19 of Noli Me Tangere

As you may be aware, the 3rd year students of MHCS (Makati Hope Christian School, if you are unaware) tackle Jose Rizal’s novel Noli Me Tangere for their Filipino class. Of course, being part of that 3rd year batch, I am studying this work as well, not in Filipino though, I can't understand it in Filipino. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that if I'm comparing something in Noli Me Tangere to something in life, I can understand the story; therefore, I must be reading it in English. Yeah, duh, English…

And if you're wondering, you can buy the English version of Noli Me Tangere, with a translation of El Filibusterismo at the back, in National Bookstore for more than P400. That’s quite a good deal, considering the alternatives. Those alternatives being: A. Buy the comic (in Filipino, I haven't seen an English version) B. Deal with the Filipino version you get from school, and slave over it with a Filipino-English dictionary (No thank you) or C. Ask about it from a classmate/batchmate (No thank you once again, as much as possible I’d like to handle stuff by myself). Anyway, away from the somewhat brief advertisement and back to the post…

So… Since I've been keeping myself aware of it by reading the English version of the thing and pretty much ignoring the Filipino version (Poor book…) but listening to the reports of my classmates on the chapters do help. Anyway, it’s so much more understandable and helpful for tests when I read the book, but one chapter really hit me. It was chapter 19. Now, boys and girls, turn to page 86 if you have the same book as I do. (Teehee, 86… Lols insanely)

The basic summary of the chapter is that there is this schoolteacher, who's name I didn’t catch, telling his story to Crisostomo Ibarra. His story is, well, that kinda that he noticed stuff about the way he was teaching. He noticed that the kids he was teaching weren't encouraged to study, due to the way they would be punished if they made a mistake, and that their location was bad. They couldn’t read aloud because they studied in a church of some kind (I think a parish one or something) and if they did the priest would scold them.

The teacher tried to teach the kids Spanish, but after a bit of time the priest, Damaso, called him over to his office and insulted him. So he couldn’t teach Spanish, if he did he would lose his career, as Damaso was one of the most powerful men in San Diego (The “town” the story mainly occurs in). It resulted in the teacher losing heart in his work, but he wanted to fight back still.

Anyway… I'm continuing where I left of and don’t feel like finishing the summary. My comparison is based on what the teacher wanted to change by teaching Spanish, actual Spanish, and not pure memory Spanish without really understanding what it means.

That is basically how it is in our Chinese class. We have to memorize this sentence and that sentence, without really understand what it says. I appreciate the fact that our Chinese teacher is trying to teach us the meaning of what we studying, but I think that it is somewhat unsatisfactory. I'm not saying this to smite out teacher. No way, she's a wonderful teacher. She's very kind and nice, and funny to boot. That’s very rare for a Chinese teacher in our school. The only other teacher I remember myself favoring this much was our teacher in Grade Two and that was because he used to tell us stories of the Monkey King – or something along the lines of that – if we were good little kiddies. *eye roll* But, yeah he was very nice.

I remember hearing from someone, whose name I can no longer recall, that the Chinese in our school is a joke. I mean, compare it to the Chinese of other schools like St. Jude. Compared to St. Jude, what we’re studying is pretty much nothing. I mean, they studied History, Science and other subjects in Chinese. So they were trained to speak, write, and think in Chinese. When all we can do is pretty much write what we copy in Chinese. For proof, look at our transferees from St. Jude, they're all pretty much honor students in MHCS in Chinese.

We need someone to do what this brave schoolteacher did. We need to get back to the ground basics. There is no real point in studying Chinese by memory, everything flies out the window the day after the test, and possibly wasn’t even there in the first place.
Children study so they can prepare for “real life”, working and such. Chinese is supposed to be an advantage, but studying Chinese like this could be something we could use in our resumes, but when it comes to the actual usage, be better put on a paper bag before we g

Leave Me Alone – a rant

I’m a loner. So even if I was born to an enormous family, who seems to love our tiny apartment, I don’t like socializing with people much or too intimately. I hate holding hands. I hate hugs. I hate kisses. What I do want is for people to stay at least an arm’s length away from me. One of the things I want right now is to be left alone. I don’t mean that in a way that I'm ready to pack up my things, go to the mountains and become a hermit, although to me that doesn’t sound as bad as it may to others.

My point is that I'm an introvert in a world brimming full of hyperactive, tailing extroverts.

Yes, this is a rant about how I can't seem to get peace, most especially when there are more than three people in my house at a time.

I was born into a world where I can take control of what I want. I'm not kept on a foot long leash, I have freedom, and I have the right to that freedom. I have always had the choice of what I wanted to do, of course within the bounds of “Is this all right for me?” “Or will this hurt me or not?” My mother had always, let me emphasize that always loved the company of people when I was younger. She kept on saying that I was something like a Sunflower, constantly smiling and happy (and hyperactive, BTW – I noticed that this is my most used abbreviation…).

But, I have grown up. I don’t move much, I consider myself quite apathetic Frankie will vouch for that. So I don’t care much for the world and whatever goes on with it, perhaps that isn't quite the right word. It isn't that I don’t care, I do, I want to be kept aware of the on goings of others – although that could be considered snooping and curiosity rather than true concern. It’s just that I've made it a point to myself that I don’t want to be really, personally, involved in it.

I'm also apathetic in the form that even though I can sense that something’s troubling someone or something, but couldn’t care less if they were in pain or not. True, it does induce some sympathy from me, but hardly enough for me to really be concerned of their well-being.

Call me a psychopath, and I wouldn’t care. I'd just laugh about it in your face.

I don’t like, hardly enjoy it, when people are all hug-hug, kiss-kiss, lambing-lambing with me. So what if we’re close? I don’t care. Stay away from me before I become nasty. Do you notice my look of annoyance or my sudden jerking away? Take a clue when you see it before I snap. And I don’t doubt that my snapping, as are as it is, will be nasty.

This post has basically been triggered by my cousins. (I'm typing this in between studying for Chinese… I don’t want to have to order them away forcibly, I want to save myself a scolding as well. I know they're kids, about ten and six, I think.

I've been very patient with them. A lot of this patience has been faked actually. I overheard my aunts saying that I've matured and so on whatever crap. Please. I'm trying, but don’t go off and make such absurd assumptions. I'd much rather kick them out than let them play Sims on my laptop, when I could be doing something that I profit from. After all, I don’t really care about them much.

My door has two “notices” on them. I'm not sure exactly what you call them, but those are the boards you can buy at hardware stores and stick on wherever you want. Anyway, the two signs say, “Restricted Area” and “Private”. I bought them ages ago and they're beginning to dust.

My mom asked me why I wanted to buy them, I never gave her a straight answer because I didn’t want to hurt her and throw her into her tampo-tampo mode. But after ages of wanting to say it out loud, I’ll finally proclaim it here. “I put them there because I mean it. I don’t put posters on a door just for the heck of it – that is if I did. I try to do things that will achieve something, anything, regardless of how shallow. If I put an Initial D poster there, it means that I'm proclaiming that, I love Initial D. If I put ‘Restricted Area’ and ‘Private’, that means what it means. You don’t need a dictionary or an encyclopedia of Why Girls Act This Way, and What It Really Means. Sometimes I think people just are blind – either that or stupid. Private means private, stay away – duh! Restricted Area means you cannot enter without written permission of the occupant – that of course was an exaggeration. My oral permission is more than enough. But that’s basically what I want. I want people to respect what I want. And what I want is to be left alone.”

Dani, if you read this, I really mean it when I act like I don’t like it when you go off and play with me hair. I AM NOT A FRIGGIN DOLL! I don’t let my mom fix or do whatever what she wishes with my hair, and neither will I allow you to.

“I hate holding hands, I hate hugs, I hate kisses, I hate it when you have to go on and show your affection to a person through physical ways like this. Can't we be satisfied with the relationship in itself? I don’t need to feel it physically to appreciate a feeling of love. If I feel it emotionally, that’s enough. If I love you, I'd make you feel it without have to touch you. If I don’t do that, then I probably don’t care much about you.”

Pro-Abortion, and the Beginning of the Debate Between Kayu and the Thirteenth Angel

In today’s society, everything, well, almost everything, is different from what it used to be, our culture is different from what it was years ago. We all like in this fast-paced world, and as the McDonalds commercial goes, “Everything is fast” or something else quite similar. And in this society, our woman have a voice that is listened to, heck the US Secretary of State is a woman. Women have equal rights with men. Rights like, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of Decision.

My first point would be that women have the right to choose what they want to do with their lives, of course they'd be responsible too, but they now have the freedom to do what they wish, and the state should not interfere with this. If a woman finds that she is pregnant, either from an accident or a crime, she should be able to decide what she wants to do with the fetus within her. Her husband, or whoever partner she had, can talk to her about it, but it’s primarily her choice, her decision.

Second, a person, or whoever opposes this freedom of choice, should consider the child and its future. If the child is born, will he be in a good family? Will he be born in a good environment? Does his parents, or mother (if it’s single parenthood) have enough money to support him? It’s good if all the answers would be yes, but if the answers are yes, then the mother probably would want to have the child.

The problem is, not all children will be born into nice families who can nurture then properly. What if the parent has no money, or what if the couple already has an overload of children, what if both? If someone offers to assist them, then that’s nice, and it would actually turn up well, but who will actually go and offer the same kind of support to everyone? Not everyone will receive this, and that’s the problem. The government could say that they would, but in the Philippines, this is very impossible, not with all these crimes popping up everywhere. It would be better to let the child go before anything like this can happen.

And also you have to consider the teenagers who were not properly taught about sex and got pregnant. It deprives someone greatly of their time when taking care of their child, if you also, or even force, a teen to give birth to their child, then what will happen to the teen’s studies? They would probably not even finish their studies, just going on to work to support their child.

Teenagers are also not fully developed. If the mother gives birth, she risks her life as well as her child’s during the birth-giving process.

One thought to the churchgoers who oppose abortion, if a child dies, he/she goes to heaven, night? So if you let a child be born in an unstable environment, for example like the squatter’s area, then you are putting child in danger of loosing their soul. The squatter’s area or wherever is not a place you would want to raise a child in.

Now, look at one more benefit if you allow abortion. Jobs. There are people who abort children for these women who don’t know how to do it themselves. They also sell aborfinitives to help the mother eject the child.

And finally, it is mentioned in the article, that abortion is being met with more and more indifference every year. So it wouldn’t even be too hard to have it allowed. And women, who are opposed to it, change their minds and want it when they are in a situation that calls for it, like being a victim of rape, for example.

But basically, women and the society in general can reap many benefits by allowing abortion, like saving the child from risks or dangers he/she would have to endure if he/she is born. And it’s simply not anyone’s business but the couple’s if they want an abortion or not.

Yes, I know it’s a really messed up essay, but I was too lazy to try and fix it.

Manny Pacqiao: The Modern Philippine’s National Hero

Everyone has heard of our favorite and most famous boxer, Mr. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, what a stupid a.k.a. name though. Isn't being named after an ancient Namco game humiliating? Or does he not realize it? It would be much cooler if he were named something that belongs, or at least fits in with the 21st century.

But I’m not here to criticize his stupid nickname, but here to provide yet another essay, questioning his status here in the Philippines. He is so revered here in the Philippines that when he had a fight against a guy (whose name I can no longer remember) earlier this year, I think, people were flocking to televisions and eagerly (insanely) cheering on their idol in Las Vegas.

Sure, it’s really great that he’d bringing glory and honor to the Philippines, he is, as my title claims, like the new National Hero. It seems that he is greater than those heroes of more than a century ago, who have done much, much, much greater things to the Philippines, like setting it free from the Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese. Although, freeing ourselves from then Spaniards and the Japanese, we got help from the Americans, but that’s not the important part. Our heroes, like Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, or other guys from our monetary system, they are the significant heroes in the Philippines, even if they are long dead.

They initiated, or continued, our fight against our colonists. It is because of them that we are the first country liberated from colonization, in Asia, I mean.

If we talk about the heroes of today, at least we should honor the OFWs a bit more. They’re the ones who are pumping a significant percentage of our dollars into the Philippines. But, no, all the wrong people are the ones receiving honor and grace from our very dear president. Although I doubt that the government has enough money to honor the OFWs the same was she does to Mr. Pacman (and the dude from the Black Eyed Peas, who is totally undeserving as well).

We get honor and glory, in the form of boxing victories of all things. I’m so totally against boxing, so that pretty much adds to my negativity about Mr. Muncher. I remember reading about a proposal of the DepEd to include boxing into school’s curriculum. WTF! That would be a summarized version of what went in my head though. The totally elongated version of it would follow.

Boxing in our school curriculum. I would love to ask the guy who proposed this if he actually thought about what he was proposing. Is he insane? Or is he such a Pacquiao fan that he was totally deluded by Pacman’s shiny little stars floating around him when he fights a match? Probably both. This is certainly not a good was to honor the boxer. He’s a boxer for crying out loud, the image he is feeding to the people of other countries is that, “Sure, we’re a third world country, but at least we can fight well.”

It’s crazy. We have misdirected all this time and energy for no significant, or even valuable purpose. Heck, it’s a totally brutal sport.

Pacquiao is wealthy. He is famous. He gets accusations that he impregnated a woman, or something like that. <>

Mischief Magic

I'm actually in school now and am fully apreciating the fact that Blogger actually prevents you from leaving a page directly, our school has some program that redirects us from a certain page to some other page (like Google, Yahoo, or our school's own retarted website. It probably has a bad word or something else in the page that the program looks for and sends us to another page, either way, Blogger isn't going to let me go until I agree to. So ^^ I'm typing up a post during computer class. Even though I don't understand what our teacher is typing on screen. Oh well... Actually, Frankie's page had me redirected when I tried it, but that isn't surprising really...

I do have a bit of a rant, then I'll go on with raving on and on the rest of the time. I hate my school computer's keyboard. I'm a relatively fast typer, and don't actually have to look at the keyboard when I type so when I do, I (duh) don't bother looking at the keyboard and sometimes the monitor as well. But that's obviously not a rant. My point is that (Man... is debating getting to me...) my keyboard is somewhat broken. When I press the Enter button, take note this isn't all the time, it get's stuck. So I end up having to free the button and erase all the Entered spaces... This is simply a nuisance that wastes my time, so heck...

BTW, I'll be posting the code of our program so I don't have to write it down...

"Form1_MouseDown"

Select Case e.Button
Case MouseButtons.Left
MessageBox.Show(Me, "Left button click", "ALERT")
Case MouseButtons.Right
MessageBox.Show(Me, "Right button click", "ALERT")
Case Else
MessageBox.Show(Me, "Middle button click", "ALERT")
End Select

Now, back to my post. ^^

I have been in such an absurdly cheery mode lately. A bit on the "emo" side though because of my "no creative writing" phase. Hey, I don't mean that I don't want to write, but I haven't been getting to writing anything of my own, be it from stories, essays, or blog posts. My previous post being totally euphoria-driven (I guess, I kinda forgot the word I was going to say) and Initial D-hypered. But now... It is still somewhat eurphoria-driven (although it has somewhat wanned) and is still so hyper. About two animes this time.

Should I get on with this post, or should I wait till tomorrow still? Hmm...

I'm not using the "tag" tab over there...

Anyway, I'm going to plug Frankie's new Jigoku Shojo site! Wohoo! Hah, Ron Bruise of Gaia Online reminiscent much? Go to www.freewebs.com/hotlinetohell It looks plain, but it the text doesn't disappear when you click the send button, there's no actual fear or intimidation that leaks... XP Too bad, Frankie, please try to get it to work...

Jigoku Shojo is such a facinating anime. It keeps me up till midnight every night...

*I'll get back to this later...

More codes for the time being:

"TextBox1_KeyPress"

Dim key As Integer
key = Asc(e.KeyChar)
Select Case key
Case Asc("0") To Asc("9")
e.Handled = False
Case Asc(ControlChars.Cr)
e.Handled = True
Case Asc(".")
If InStr(TextBox1.Text, ".") = 0 Then
e.Handled = False
End If
Case Else
e.Handled = True
End Select

Now, where was I... I have no idea... *pokes/prods/shakes thought bubble forming above head*

Ah yes, the most overwhelming wonderful news to scatter around like confetti in a hyper-active child's party... Dum-dum-dumdum! I have gotten an FC! Is met by silence and WTFing. Yes, I can understand that only an Initial D fan would truely appreciate such beautifully bent and painted metal.

Account of Euphoria

*Before you read this, I would like to apologize in advance. Blogger must be cropping the pictures to make them fit in the space provided for posts, so you can't actually see them in full view. And it seems that html stuff does not work on the compose tab, so damnit. If you want to see the pictures you can visit my Photobucket, convieniently linked to the tittle. T-T

I'd have to say that there's enough proof on this site that I. Am. An. Initial. D. Fan. Period, period, and period.

Yesterday I went to the mall to go off and search for the items for our Goldberg project. So after buying a pulley and some hooks, we went to the toy store (Toy Kingdom, for your information) and went looking for some motorized toy car, you know, those with a remote or something the like. Anyway, after picking one from the display outside, I went inside and looked for a plastic shovel, the kind kids use to build sandcastles, or lumps, in the beach. Anyway, we went down the path and lo and behold... I saw a display of cars and... THERE WERE INITIAL D CARS THERE!!!

So, as expected, I went something like, "OMG..." And went over to the display and almost pressed myself against the glass staring at the scale car models. The big problem is that it's WAY expensive, kinda logically expected. Anyway, I took some pictures of the cars, including their price tags.

An AE86, Takumi's car. It even has the advertisement for their tofu shop. ><

Now, an FD, an RX-7, Keisuke's car. Oh, man, it looks great on screen, you can even see the characters at the back. The color of the car is right on camera, but in real life it's a bit too... orange. But not orange, thankfully. What is Natsuki doing there?! She isn't a racer!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here's Ryousuke's car, the FC. You can probably deduce that it's related to the FD, yep it is. It's the older version of the FD, you do know the alphabet after all. ;D Sorry if the quality of the photo isn't good. It seems like I have a hard time taking pictures of shiny white or black things, like this car, and my other cars...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is the R32, GT-R! Dum, dum, dum-dum!!! It looks really menacing in the anime, First Stage though. In the Second Stage it does nothing except park and hit the wall. Tsk, tsk, Nakazato, where's your supposed skill gone? Anyway, this car doesn't interest me much, although I've seen some people from DA saying that the GT-R is "hot". Bah, they can go their own way, I want an RX-7! (Well, RX-8 actually, but close enough.)

Here are the car I actually have already: My tiny car collection...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
These are just some random stuff I got, and the light thingy with an 86 is something that can be attached to a cellphone. The small silver car looks like a Cappuccino, or an S2000... And the toy, you may recognize it from the Pixar animation, Cars. That Porche model makes me think of the Nissan 350Z, it's also a Porche car, so I think this is that Nissan 350Z car...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is a Nissan 350Z. Does it look like the Porche from above? Yep. And Tatsuya Shima from Wangan Midnight drives this car, it even has the right color! >< (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wangan_Midnight)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This, is my RX-8. Man, I dream of saying that one day and meaning it, like I actually have the actual car and not simply a model of it. Sigh... Stares reverently at picture...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is just a picture of it all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is my newest addition to the collection. It's an Impreza, it's a scale model of what Tommi Makinen drove during the 2002 Monte Carlo WRC rally... To tell you the truth, apart from it being a sedan and not a coupe, it looks a lot like Bunta's Impreza... Not stickers of course. Maybe that's why they had Bunta's car color blue and not gray as it is in the manga.

And since this post is just jam-packed with car pictues, I may as well just put the pictures of our real car... Well, my mom's anyway. Why? It's her money and her car.

Scary? I took a picture of it just as my annoying mother pressed the button to open the doors. As you can see they don't have plates, so I don't have any second thoughts of posting on the net. You can see her in the picture though...

And to finish this photo post off...

Halo

Eventful week

Yup, looking at the title, this week, or at least the end of it, has been quite eventful. But let's make it systematically, ne?

Monday:

Nothing much, but the regular P.E. Surprisingly, I think I got a tad better at volleyball this day. I was able to hit the ball in a straight line. Dam, dam, dam-dam! And as always, I felt tired afterwards, and ended feeling sleepy during Chemistry.

Tuesday:

I got stuck at school because someone didn't tell me that there wasn't any debate this day. So, lucky, my mom didn't take her color-coded car to office since she had to some banking around Ayala Avenue. I don't want to try to do that again, it was totally tiring. I think that I blogged about that before. Hehe... Anyway, she took a taxi and picked me up from school.

Wednesday:

Nope, nothing happened today. I just died and came back to life. Nope. Joke of course. Only Jesus has come back from death.

Thursday:

To make up for my totally uneventful Wednesday, my Thursday was totally different from my regular days.

One, because of Milenyo Teachers' Day was cancelled (and blah, blah, blah, no need for more explanations) so we held our celebration today, and so... It honestly sucked, as it always did. The performances were mainly from the elementary kids, so since kids have extraordinarily thick skins, they aren't shy. (duh, get to the point...) They performed the lamest things, so what if I'm being supremely mean. Damn, Breaking Free from sub-strandard performers is a serious pain to the ears. Breaking Free is so annoying, hearing it over, and over, and over again until it makes your ears bleed. Gah!

Second, after the celebration with a recycled poster (from Students' Night, just with an extra layer) we had our yearly hopia games. Haha, hopia games, that honestly sounds stupid. Anyway, it's the dice in the bowl game. The only thing I really hate about this game that took up our time till lunch (yay!) is that I NEVER EVER win anything more than a few littly pieces of hopia. This time I just got one tiny little hopia. Damnit! So, I just ended up mooching some hopia from some of my neighbours. ;)

And no debate meet again.

Friday:

Nothing really special during actual school work except that I got a 25 out of 26 in dum, dum, dum-dum (!) Algebra! Whoa, I never get high scores in Math, I'm ADVERSE to math and math related subjects... And once again, whoa...

This is really cool. Since our numbers (of those in the debate society) have shrunk to this tiny number, we ended up rounding up 3 (!) members for the meeting. I mean, that's not even enough to hold a debate, no matter how cut and diced it gets. So inspite of the number, we had a ton of fun. I, myself, kept laughing during this time (I swear, I had not gone insane) . We had public speaking!
It was really fun, much more fun that debate, quite honestly. I swear, haha. Now, I'm multi-purpose as well. Maybe Joyce and I would be entered into public speaking contests as well, she did say that she didn't want to do it alone. Hey, we could drag Daichi into our mayhem as well. Ms. President was actually really funny as well.
This is the real crecendo of things, today our brand-new CRV arrived! It's "abalaster-silver" and it smells nice. I've always liked the smell of new cars... I drove really smoothly, and I'm trying to get used to the high view from it. Actually, as of now, I've only got 2 rides in it... I could go on and on on this, but won't, I (for once) want to go to sleep.
So ja!

Milenyo! Bagyo!

Rain, rain, rain... Typically, I love the rain, it's God's gift to mankind and students! Whenever they (I forgot their organization's name) announce that the typoon has reached signal number 2, all of my school rejoices because this only means one thing, NO CLASSES!!!

The ironic thing is that we really have no classes, damnit! Teacher's Day and this is when we get sprung by Milenyo! Couldn't it have come on Monday or some other school day?!

More Old News

Yes, another happening from a week ago. I just happened to be lazy that day, I love being lazy on weekends, anyway, point is coming. Since I didn't want to go to church that day (I'm so bad Xl) I ended up stalling, and stalling, and stalling until the expected result came. "Yan, I'm late na, it's embarrassing to go inside (the sanctuary). We won't go any more."

Yess! So instead of going to the church we went to Glorietta. Yes, yes, no need to critic the evil un-Christian act. But when we went there, we pasted by dan-dan-da-dan! A book sale, it's Shepherd’s Staff's hallway sale! Haha, for lack of term of course.

I enjoyed buying a pile of books, some books are to be crossed out on my book list, no wait.... Err... Yeah! This Present Darkness was retrieved and stole (ie bought) and so was House (by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker XD!), The Regime, and The Rising ( by the authors of the Left Behind series, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins XD!!!) I've been wanting those books for ages!

Anyway, that was only in the morning, after that we went to Megamall to go and watch Joseph the Dreamer. Yes, as in the Bible story. It was an overly hyperactive musical where the actors went over to the aisles to go off and clap their heads of.

It was probably an enjoyable thing, only thing is that I'm not that kind of girl. I don’t savor people going overboard trying to be cheery, heck I find that extremely annoying. I don’t mean trying to be happy when you aren’t, I meant the kind of hyperactive cheeriness.

The songs were nice… Cheery overdose, but cute, like High School Musical cute. And the director who, well, directed the play was also the one who did our school’s musical years ago, or was that only a year ago... Anyway, First Name was directed by Mr. Freddie Santos…

There. And man oh man, is reading the Illiad taking a long time...

The Bad News

I've actually got a whole bunch of things to blog about, but to help keep the blog organized, I'll be posting it in three parts. First of all the bad news...

Mr. Santos, our English teacher, as I've blogged about before, is not coming back. I don't mean that he's dead, at least I hope that he isn't... We received news earlier this week, like Tuesday, that he supposedly resigned from school. He was supposed to come back last Monday and when he didn't we were all distressed.

Damn... It's so sad!

We still don't know what family problem may be causing him to do this, but I got an English teacher to talk somehow. He hinted that Mr. Santos' mom was sickly and that he was the only unmarried child.

I can put two and two together. My theory is that since his mother is sickly, he quit school to be with her. But that pretty much goes without saying, with those clues anyway.

Teacher Irene, my old Science tutor, also left tutor to help her mother. And Teacher Elisa, my ex-tutor of English, also had to leave, but only for a much shorter time, to be with her father in Davao.

Even though their students feel bad about what they are doing, I have to admit that I think that they are doing the right thing. Family should come before work, much like the moral of the movie of Adam Sandler, Click.

Anyway, a result of this disappearance, I mean Mr. Santos', is that students are looking for him, this is also very obvious. He was very well-loved teacher at MHCS. The runt of the crap is that he was our class advisor and debate moderator. I was looking forward to having him as our teacher for the year and this comes up.

The debate club is not the only one who is whoe-ing in this event. The Dance Club, or Icarus, feels the same way. I saw them once interrogating our English head, Ms. Dimzon. I actually wanted to laugh at them, not at offence (no way!). I was just amused when I compared our style of interrogating to theirs. When they go "please, sige na", we go "why not? we have the right to know". But thinking back, I think you need a balance between the two to get the right results, and a more talkative teachers...

Update, update...

Yup, my over interest in making my blog look nicer has succeded, the only thing preventing it from being as I wish it to be is Blogger itself. It is not allowing me to move my new banner on top of the page in place of that plain bordered thing above. The hell, screw it! Just scroll down (press end on your keyboard) and view it at the bottom.

Anyway, onto more important things (apart from the fact that I actually got a visitor! XD). Our team lost a while ago against St. Scholastica. We lost. We lost. We loooooosssssttttt!!!

Four months of work...

First of all, Edward, our very impractical practical speaker, had to be late. Like, we were supposed to meet at school at 7:00am (it's beyond the point that I got there at 7:20), and he arrived at past 8. So we were frantically texting him (meaning, I was texting him frantically) to hurry up or we might be defaulted. Somehow I find that I'd prefer being defaulted rather than losing. It just hurts my pride I suppose.

I wonder how our Mr. Santos would react to this. He is scheduled to come back to school on Monday, and our news for him would be that we lost against St. Scho, who everyone else in the club was scoffing at.

Man, is the coming week ever going to be embarassing...

Ding!

I've been working hard on improving, colorizing (squee...) my blog... I'm actually trying to make a banner for it as well, but it's so plain, I want to get some, something. Those little decorations you see by the main point of banner like lines or stars, or even simple circles. Bah, I wish someone could just make one for me...

Oh well, in my last entry I actually forgot something greatly significant. Some other important, well, to me at least, event happened. We had went to a career fair in a place whose name I can no longer remember, basta, it's near WTC, right beside it if I'm not mistaken, and visited La Salle...

The career fair was actually nice, I found a university there that attracted my attention, James Cook University in Singapore. My parents have been interested in sending me to Singapore for quite some time now actually. The one that interested them though was the Polytechnic University though, I think. I'm not good with names I don't use often. I mean, I haven't seen the brochure for years now.

Anyway, in the fair we were just cicling the place, filled with fellow high school students from I don't know where schools. And the thing is, we found our uniform mates there. The school's girl's uniform sported the same kind of skirt, our unique, but not so now, gray-checkered skirt! The shirt was entirely different though.

Anyway, there were loads of collages, universities and schools there. UP was actually there but the thing is, there was no one at the UP booth, there were only some lame photocopied brochures on the desk laying there idly. My comment on that was, "They're so liberal that they just stand up and leave their booth." There was a Ricky Reyes and a JRP booth there as well!

Haha, the Ricky Reyes dudes actually did a demonstration there in the middle, the dudes "fixed" the hair of like... 5 (?) unlucky victims. Haha, JRP was actually giving away 1 free session just to sign up, as all the other schools were doing. And my mental monologue was going, "I still have 2 more free sessions, I don't need another one, much less one I don't want to go to..."

Anyway, I like the Lyceum of the Philippines booth, it looked like the dudes there really worked hard on it, they put a a big, erm... I actually don't know what it is, but it was like they had this big red column in the middle of the exhibit. And I won a messenger bag! Whoot! This is the bag I'm going to be using to the competition tomorrow. Yikes!

After the fair, we went to La Salle. Since I waited for my friends, Dani and Clarissa, in the restrooms, we got left behind by our batch... O.o Haha, it was certainly an experience to remember... The first time we went to La Salle, we got lost... Anyway, I did't enjoy our tour there since they were only discussing about the different Engineering courses and God knows I've got no interest in that field at all.

The thought of doing math for the rest of my life scares me.

Anyway, back to the present. I've got a competition tomorrow. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working, and I am, I'm working on my patience. My matter is printing in nice purple, no wait, I forgot to change it... It's printing in distinct black... And damn... won't it hurry up, I want to watch Initial D!

The replay is in 10 minutes...

Anyway, got to go, please comment on my ShoutBox. It's a lot more obvious, well, it stands out a lot more. I mean, PINK! My site is hosting pink! Pink, orange, black, white! It has colors!!!

Students' Night

What a Thursday night it was... Seriously, what can I say?

Our theme was MVP high, as in First Day High Rexona commercial. So, since I hate my basketball outfit worse than my tennis outfit, I dressed up as a lost tennis player, no, no, no... Hmm, a tennis player who lost her racket. Since, it would certainly be a problem if I had bothered to bring one.

Oh, that reminds me that I should upload my videos soon.

There were a few booths of stuff for consumption, like barbeque (this was really popular), and ice cream. Mmm... Something to keep in mind when going to fairs. If you are staying late into the program (or whatever), expect the prices of the booths to become cheaper as the closing time approaches.

Real life example:
Dani and I went off to buy some ice cream, ten-fifteen minutes later they were selling ice cream buy one take one.
*sigh* Anyway, that day I had only like... P45 in my wallet, so I could only buy 1 hot dog, 1 ice cream cone, and one glass of ice tea.

Anyway, just singing, singing, and whatever. It's the regular, talented MHCS concert. Nothing supremely different from all the other concerts and performances our school holds. There were two bands, one of which had my friend from debate, which I didn't really like. The first one for it's not-so-good singer, and the other one for its musical style. I'm just not an acoustic kind of girl.

I appreciate rock at its fullest!

And Frankie, if you're reading this, you'll find that I remembered that title that I loved so much, "Makeshift Melodies"! :D

When I figure out how to use YouSendIt, we can start our mp3 blog!

Silence

I don't like this feeling, I'm caught in the middle of not knowing what's happening in our debate club, or if it is still a club.

Yesterday, everything became official, Mr. Santos, our third year English teacher and our Debate Society moderator, had to go on leave for something "personal & school related". Since everyone, everyone who knows what is going on that is, insisted that they couldn't tell us what was going on, we're all left to guessing our heads off in vain. The only problem is we really can't think of anything that could be both personal and school related. And we're supposed to be debaters. Shame, shame.

Anyway, I know that Mr. Santos' somewhat announced disappearance is supposed to be a major hit (as in damage, not so popular), simply because of it, but the effects are deeper, and has much more serious consequences. I don't mean that in a way that because he is gone (for now) that we'd do something wrong, "We're Christian debaters," as he'd say.

But, damnit, because he's gone, we're not a club. This is according to our School Rules and Regulations handbook distributed at the start of the schoolyear. By not being an official club, we don't get any school support, meaning we get no money and no transportation. So, we don't get support if we want to join a competition, like CMLI.

We, as in my team mates and I, agree that we're the ones who would suffer the most, because simply stated, we're the only ones who have to go through a long series of competitions to get to the finals. And since we've already started, this all sucks majorly for us!

I don't know the result of our 10 minute (daw) extended meeting yesterday as no one has replied to me, so I dread Monday and what result comes with it.

Ract-ory

This will be my first pre-made blog entry, and what will it be about? Hate. Well, not really, but irritation, agitation, ranting, and whatnot. (Is debating getting to me? Yes, it is.)

First of all, I hate it when people just take and move my stuff around without my permission. A prime example to this would be my mom. Actually, she’s the reason I’m making this right now, so there. She’s my irritant, the thorn in my (home) sight, and the person I feel like bashing the most. If I were not that polite (reserved), I'd have engaged in an all-out vocal battle with her by now. But, she's my mom, and even if I end up hating her guts at the end of the day, tolerance takes over… I want to take that back, sleep takes over, not tolerance. Mentally bashing your “thorns” at night is the best stress reliever I've got.

This parent of mine, she's an obsessive compulsive, that woman. Sometimes, I'd really love to take the opportunity to wring her scrawny neck. Can't she keep her hands to herself? She can clean the whole house, she can rearrange the layout of our living room, for all I care, and quite honestly, I see very little point in arranging and rearranging, decorating and beautifying your house if the only considerable time you spend there, you spend sleeping, but she has no right to fix my room. Nope. Nada. NO!

She complains when I leave my room in “disarray” and such, but I've already told her this: I leave it that way, because I want it that way. She says that if I pile my books onto the table, I should arrange them into some neat pile and shit. Well, that the point, shit, no shit. What's the point of doing it so? Does it make it easier for me to get my books?

There is no point in doing so, but only to please her neat freak state. Another thing, it’s MY room, not hers, not the public room, MINE. I have the right to arrange my room in any way I please, and most certainly have the power to decide on how “neat” I want it to be. If I want to leave my books and bags on the floor, in the morning, it should still be on the floor, not in the cabinet, not on the table, not on the chair, ON THE FLOOR!

My will and my will alone is what governs the state of my room. I like it this way, and she has no right to say otherwise and act on it, just because she said so. NO, not in my territory!

Man, that rant was long, and I’ve still got more.

Nag, nag, nag, yes this is certainly what parents do, but don’t you think that it would be wrong to nag, and only nag, when you talk about studies? (Ah, the rhetoric, this is my style.) Sure, it is more acceptable, but still not completely, to nag when there is a need to, but that’s why they named it nag, and not remind. Nagging is excessive reminding to the point of irritating the person you're reminding (nagging).

That’s my mom again. Where does encouragement and support come in when the only thing she talks about when referring to my studies, is that you don’t study enough, blah, blah, blah. Damnit! Has she not heard of, “The more you nag, the less he listens?” I simple drown her voice out when she gets into the you-must-study-study-study mode. There is no point in listening to a broken tape over and over again, most especially when you don’t even like listening to what you're hearing!

~~

My grandma and her nursemaid daughter have come vacationing over. And I don’t like it. Really, I don’t. I mean, she’s nice, my lola that is, and so is my aunt, but I just don’t like them much.

My grandma, well, what can I say but she's a good cook, but having to take care of an elderly woman is not my thing. I don’t like explaining the already obvious facts, like the mechanics of Kris Aquino’s Deal or No Deal. I simply don’t have the patience of such menial tasks. I cannot wait for some slow walking woman for long. I can stand to wait for someone for a while, but after that while has expired, the hell with you, I'm going on ahead. I'm no longer patient, at least not with menial and repetitive jobs like that.

And my aunt… What can I say but, even if she is one of my nicest aunts, as of now, she is my least favorite one. On one basic principle, she acts more like a maid than my aunt. She asks if she can do this for me, like carrying my school junk, or accompanying me the bathroom (?!). The fuck with that, carrying the books, is pretty much okay with me, but going to the bathroom?! Hell, no! Shit, no! FUCK, NO!!! As if, I’m 15 years old now, hello? Are you even oblivious to that fact? I'm a few inches taller than you and that still blinds your eyes?

~~

Finally, out with the bad mood, in with the good mood, out with the bad mood, in with the good mood… You see? I don't often use ALL CAPS, but here it appears quite a few times.

More next time, this has gotten quite long…

Testing, Testing

Man, how fun is beta-ing? I do it for Google, Vox, and now Blogger as well. A while ago, a few minutes that is, I noticed a little banner in the side pannel of Blogger's Dashboad, proclaiming something like Blogger Beta, but somehow this seems like something my friend, *imply imply* wouldn't notice, as she still seems to have not noticed something dark and, stuff on mine. But anyway, I clicked on it and took a little tour.

What can I say, but, "Hmm..." and that it seems like HTMLing skills have been going down the drain these past years of unuse? I suppose so. (http://buzz.blogger.com/uploaded_images/beta_buzz-708816.png) This is Blogger's image model, or is it model image, for the beta version.

The new features as stated in the Buzz article release is pretty much mainly for editing the the template for more customizability, limiting who can read your posts by email or by having them log into blogger, so only blog-makers on Blogger can read it (Reminds me of Vox), and attaching labels to your posts, so the audience can read it more easily.

And they said that they'd have more templates on, oh yeah right... I sure didn't notice anything new. Unlike those who slave over their template, or slave over finding nice templates, I just pick one ready made one. The only thing I do work on, on my template is the sidebar. (Basically, I don't know how to use a blog skin, if I did, I'd attach this one: http://www.blogskins.com/apply.php?sid=54333&action=Preview, just editing the colors a bit though. I'm not a fan of bold red and blue.)

Over and Under

Something must certainly be wrong with me. I just arrived home, although just arrived is pretty much the worng term since I got here hours ago.

Our competition is now over, and we won...

It doesn't sound like we won, right? Well, I don't feel like we've won, and the entire competition is not actually over yet. The next one is on September 9... I think. St. Paul of Paranaque was our opponent, they seemed like newbies as well, but, oh hell, I'll just say it, I think we sucked, more specifically, I sucked. Bleh.

And I'm still not out of my self-proclaimed writer's block of all things important and not, so I'll be leaving this blog once more for a bit of iPod bonding time.

Laziness, yawn, :P

As the title suggests, I'm feeling very lazy right now, so, I'll just post the pictures and videos here, later, since it is once again past twelve, and I'm supposed to be asleep. Anyway, it's on my Photobucket, the pictues, and the videos are on YouTube. Just search for "kamyuz", that's my username there. Watch the commercial and the movies featuring Clarissa and Dani!

Oh, and by the way, if any one sees this, I just want to say that I also uploaded a new map for Hannah and the Pirate Caves on Neopets. Yehey, it's a level that works, but is slightly difficult, no impossible if you don't know where the secret area is.

Haha! I finally beat Ryousuke on Tsuchisazaka, and I did beat Takumi on Akina as well, but I didn't make it to the finish line! Crap... Ah, I'll try to visit my favorite hangout again later, and maybe use up my remaining load in Glorietta and Greenbelt.

Tired, tired, tired...

Once again, a totally exhausting day. Haay! Today was the last day of exams, Algebra, it was surprisingly easy, but still I stayed in schools up to 6:45 pm! And these erm... 9 hours were not spent being idle, it was DEBATE... ^^;;

We had our pre-decon (I can't remember what that stands for anymore, but it's a meeting between the two competing teams, where they agree on the parameters and the definitions of the debate), and it seems that the St. Paulians were quite "difficult". Religion and morality? Ok, one of our senoirs in debate went, "What? Are you joking?" when she heard that.

Honestly, I thought pretty much the same thing, but just the same, it is still debatable, only, we pretty much can't include principle... Ok...

I should research somemore, if anyone has a copy of the module of the proposal DepEd gave, please, I beg you, send me a copy!

A Crushing Pressure

This past week, or two, has been quite hectic. (Hay, all this stress)

Today is the start of our periodical exms, and boy, I really do hate the first day of exams. Mainly because Chinese is always the first (one of the first of two) test. And this year, well, this quarter our teacher have one hell of a reviewer. Studying what we took in our long tests (all of them), and then adding some more. Of course 3 long tests is hard enough, but adding more to that load is hell!

And along with Chinese, there's Trigonometry. Well, honestly, Trigo's not so bad. I wouldn't go as far to say that I actually enjoy studying Trigo, but it could be worse. Much worse. It's not so hard, I wonder why my mom said that she had a harder time in Trigo then Algebra. She's supposed to be a real whiz at math, she claims that she was when she was still studying... Ok, that was not what she said, but she did say that she was good at math and she liked the subject.

Insert: Congratulations to Ms. Amarille for winning 1 million pesos on Deal or No Deal a while ago. :D

More pressure... vv;;

And now, more research has to be done. Debate calls...

Debate. Wow, what an unexpected thing debate turned out to be. I originally joined it this year, simply to find a way past my "speaking problem". This problem being uncommunicative, having a soft voice, and having a slight fear of speaking in front of crowds.

I must say, debate is really helping. But the thing is, I've been entered into a competition, and I feel so unprepared!!! The competition is on the 19th, the Oregon-Oxford division of the CMLI - Children's Museum Library, Inc.

Yada na! And what a... difficult topic we have. "Let it be resolved that sex education be taught comprehensively in the Philippines... Haay, we had a practice debate last Thursday, and I couldn't even get past the lousy 5 minute line... Grr... Damnit. It's a somewhat uncomfortable topic, and if you remove religious aspect/views, you just slice off a big portion of your speaking time.

At least I have been doing my research, so I have quite a few arguments now, but I won't be posting them here, until after the competition. Who knows? A St. Paul girl might stumble upon this almost completely black site and see my arguments and gain an ENORMOUS advantage over us, however unlikely this might be.

Hyper, hyper, hyper...

I want a Starbucks Chocolate Chip Cream grande size please. And, please add a Tiramisu cake as well :)

I'll ask our maid to buy me one tomorrow, while I'm waiting to be picked up. Man, I hate Tuesdays!
