What Your Latte Says About You
![]() You are very decadent in all aspects of your life. You never scale back, and you always live large. You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious. Battling Peer Pressure
So, why am I suddenly writing about a social occurrence, rather that simply the things I see, touch, smell, feel, and er... taste? But I do see peer pressure. Everyday. Obviously I don't just go to class and sleep throughout the day. (How would I have gotten my highest ever average for the quarter that way? ^^ 91.60 <- shocking) Peer pressure, although not outright is in our class, our batch, and definitely in our school. It probably is in yours too, that is if you still go to school. But anyway, I realized today that peer pressure isn't just about how you dress, your slang, your habits, but it also includes those little things you don't think about anymore.
When the class just suddenly decides to stand up, what do you do? Of course you join in and think that you missed something. I know I do. If one of the classmate you admire laughs at a joke, you haven't really thought about, what is your reaction? I know I just laugh.
Where was I going with this again? Er...
Ah, yeah, that we should take into consideration what we are doing. We might not realize it, but we might already be doing something unpleasant to the Lord's eyes. This kinda applies a lot to those graduating students, like me. We're leaving our tiny, kinda stressful haven, where we're pretty much protected from "bad influences”,in whatever form these may be. When we leave (and our teachers never fail to remind us how close that day is getting), we leave the safety zone. It may be pretty obvious and such, but I don't think we really realize how much we are being shielded from the world. We get bored with the monotony of our classes (speaking for myself here) and want to leave as soon as possible.I expect to have a lot of fun in uni, and actually enjoy the classes, as we are the ones to choose which ones we are to take and which not to. But at the same time, we loose the familiarity of our so-called tiny building along Pasong Tamo Extension, ahem, Don Chino Roces Avenue, I mean.
Too much, er, what did you call it again, routine, and life becomes boring, on the other hand, without any sort of routing, life becomes unbearable. Ok, so I'm exaggerating. When we leave big school, and go to bigger school, everything's new and exciting, and a little bit terrifying, but I for one intend to enjoy the transition... Gah! I've gone way off track again. *sigh* Anyway, my point is, college life will be, hands down, totally different from high school. I'm sure! *glances around* Yeah... No more teachers you can approach and start a "chika" kinda conversation. No more lounging around the Guidance Office during lunch. No more same set of classmates and classroom day in and day out. No more MHCS... How in the world did 12 years go by so quickly?!
Ok, so the previous paragraph was rambling and babbling rolled into one. My real point is that we're going to be in a completely different atmosphere and a new set of classmates, who will most likely have a completely different set of values. We can't just bend to what they believe in because we want to fit in and be accepted by them! If we do, what were those years in high school for? Everyone says that elementary and high school are just stepping stones towards uni (which is the stepping stone for life), if we discard the values (not only the info) we acquired during our time there, what was the point? It all becomes a waste.
People are unique beings. A person shouldn't have to pretend to be somebody he/she isn't. And you can't expect someone to fit a mold you made, just because you want them to. We don't have exactly the same DNA for a reason. We are different. Let's savor the diversity.
You know, I really did intend for this article to end up a completely different way, leading to another article about hypocrisy and stuff, but now... Ah...

I GOT IN! - ADMU STYLE
As Neko points out, this post was due for quite some time now, 2 weeks I think. I just haven't had the time to brag about this. >.
Anyhoo... Yipee!
LAST NAME: Cruz
FIRST AND MIDDLE NAME: Patricia May Tuazon
STATUS: Accepted
COURSE: BS PSY
SCHOLARSHIP:
^- And that blank after the scholarship part simply means that I'm not a scholar, duh. But I'm just saying this so no one misunderstands.
Now that this is over, I can now say in a very singsongy voice, "I'm going to Ateneo!" Read that 10 times and you've got it. What else can I say? How about our batch's passing rate?
I'm not sure how many took the entrance exam, probably around 60+, but one around less than 20 got in. That's about 20%... It isn't amazing, but it's better than UP's, although worse than DLSU's. None of the results were particularly surprising. The passing rate, I mean. The UPCAT's results were released much earlier than we expected. They guys proctoring us said that it'd be out by late February, but check the UPCAT site and you see results. I'd have to say that it's a bit troublesome to search for classmates. Only 9 out of 60+ passed. *wipes sweat* When it came to DLSU, however, almost everyone passed. You know I did. :)
Oh yeah, did I pass UP? Short answer: No.
And I don't particularly care, actually. Even if I passed, I wouldn't have gone there anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me. (Neko got all tense when she heard this piece of news though. She thinks she's just as smart as I am, but I'd have to disagree. She's 14, I'm 16. She confuses me a lot with this or that, which she throws into our conversations, where I'm left asking, "What is that?" Maybe she is as smart as I am, but then again, I have a 2 year lead in age. So what does that say about us?) Where was I? Eh... *gets distracted by Samurai X playing in the background* I'm lost, I forgot where I was going... Yeah, that happens a lot.
So, now, once again, I've forgotten the point of this post, oh yeah... I got into Ateneo... Since that purpose has been fulfilled and Slam Dunk is now playing, I'll leave the other posts I've planned to make till later.

I GOT IN! - DLSU STYLE
Ah, my first all caps title. You know what, I bet you that this will be a year absolutely full of firsts. Like right now, this is my first Love Earth shirt. And this is my first time visiting SM Bacolod. I've only seen one floor of one wing, and I'm not really amazed or anything. Not anything like my reaction to MoA... (Wow... It's huge...)
But lets's get straight to the hyperactivity-inducing point.
I GOT INTO DLSU!
Case No. : 09689
Examinee Name: Cruz, Patricia May Tuazon
School : Makati Hope Christian School, Makati
Degree : BS-PSYC
Status: Accepted (1st Choice)
You see that. Now I'll never be a ronin. I got that from the Chobits manga I was reading a week ago. Ronin - a student who failed his university's entrance exams and has to go to "prep"/"cram" school. (I'm not sure which it is.)
I know I want to get into Ateneo and hopefully into NUS as well, but it's a stepping stone. A first usually is succeeded by, well, other similar incidents. Hopefully, in a few weeks time there'll be a "I GOT IN! - ADMU STYLE" or "I GOT IN! - NUS STYLE" something of that sort.
Ok let me now, just take this opportunity to wish everyone a prosperous new year - hopefully. Let us remain hopeful for the rest of the 360-something days.

Staying Out Till Midnight
Really, is this something a sixteen-year old should be doing? I'm not sure about other people, but it sure isn't normal for me. It was the first time I stayed out this late with friends. And no, we weren't causing mayhem in strange dark places. So there.
You see, it was last Friday, the day of our school Christmas party. We had planned to go out to SM Megamall beforehand to have fun and make a memory of our last high school Christmas party. I had no real intention of staying in school, so I came in late. The party began at 8, I think, but I arrived a whopping 2 hours later. The purpose was to deliver the pressies and scram, but in the end I stayed, ate a bit, took loads of pictures (shocking) and ended up waiting till past 12 for Clarissa's driver to pick us up. Dani was late as well, so at least I didn't feel bad about being the one being waited for.
Right now, I'm just wondering where I can get a hold of the pictures and giving my present to Faye. I didn't notice that I left hers at home when I was packing up the presents.
Anyway... We waited a really long time in the lobby before we could leave. After that we waited in the car, and well talked about loads of stuff. Stuff I won't bother to disclose. Gah, what can I say? We had fun spending time together. How to express that is beyond my current capabilities.
When we got there, our original plan was to go ice skating. They chickened out however, because of the cold and because Dani was wearing a skirt. We didn't want to expose her knickers, so oh well. More money for other stuff. We went to the cinema to buy some tickets for The Golden Compass then onto to Timezone to kill some, well, time. We played Beatmania, Guitarmania, and the strange machine gun game. Of course, I played ID4 as well. But the machine there felt a bit strange. I can't explain it, but with my RX8, I'd usually win the start-up, but there, I lost it. Several times, in fact.
Wait... I forgot to use up my WOF tokens... Dang... Next time.
After that, we rushed up to the cinema, to the wrong one in fact, so we had to rush to the correct one making sure not to spill our popcorn. The Golden Compass was an ok movie. Dakota has grown-up a lot from the War of the Worlds movie, actually, I barely recognized her, apart from the fact that I saw her name on the movie, I wouldn't have even noticed that it was her. Except for her scream though. That hasn't changed.
After the movie, we roamed around the mall and found Comic Alley! Yay! There were so many soundtracks!! So many Intial D soundtracks! >.< In the end, I only bought 2 sticker sets and a Rukawa pin. I was looking for a Sakuragi or Akagi one, but found no other Slam Dunk ones. V.V Did I mention that I'm a Slam Dunk fan ? :D
There were so many Mokonas! But they were so expensive, P500+, so I didn't buy any. :(
Clarissa wanted to buy the Ashley Tisdale album, so we went to Odyssey and Astrovision (I think), but we didn't find any. It was after that that she received the text from her driver that he was hit by the car behind him, so he couldn't pick us up yet.
Reaction: What the hell?!
Of course we went into plan B/C/D mode and called our parents. We figured that we would just wait for the driver, after all, how long would it take?
Two hours later at Krispy Kreme, we realized how long.
At that point, the driver finally arrived and told us that he had to go to some MMDA compound in Ultra to make a statement of some sort. So, we waited for about 45 minutes in the car, wondering how our parents would sermon us. In the end, we brought Dani to school, her mom was waiting in front of the school, then I was brought home.
We said our goodbyes and goodnights. And that was the end of our little escape. It makes me wonder what wouldn't happened if Neko tagged along. I suppose we would never know.
Merry Christmas!
