Philosophy blah...

First of all, I've been wanting write something about this. First Day High, the oh-so-popular commercial of Rexona. I admit, it's a cute, nice, whatever song, with nice give-away vehicles (I can't go off and say cars because the Ranger and the Duccati are pick-up truck and a motorcycle, respectively). And I wouldn't mind getting a Focus or a Mazda3, only problem is that I can't drive.

I mean, most of the Kamikazee are really nice, my cousins kept singing Narda during the summer, as a testament to that. Anyways, back to my original topic. But first I'll post the lyrics of the song:

It's catchy, it's cute, and it most probably doesn't need a translation. Anyway, what's it about? My interpretation of it is basically stereotyping. There, checked spelling, if you want a definition click -> http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/stereotyping, mainly number two though. It pretty much places you in one of the classes: brainy, sosy, MVP, rebel, or nice guy.

When I watch that commercial (like every 10 minutes or so, when I watch ABS-CBN, that is), what goes straight to my head is, which one are you, when you figure that out, take your pose. But that's just wrong. If you have to set standards to fit in, in a group. It feels like, if you're really smart, you're a brainy, but not a sosy, MVP, a rebel, or a nice guy. It's like trying to fit a person into a surely molded box.

But humans are humans. No more than one person can fit an exact description. You can't go off and say, "Oh, you're so good with sports, you're in the MVP class. So you stay there and leave the other traits behind." Also, since you put a person in a class, you expect this person to have this so-and-so personality trait, and when they don't have it you ask questions about it.

All I can say to close that up is, "Stereotyping is wrong." People are unique, they were created that way, so there's no use trying to put them against a standard.

Second topic. This one is related to our History homework, or seeming series of. What is the greatest contribution of (insert civilization here) to civilization. I think anyway, since God didn't bless me with a photographic memory, I almost never remember the exact wording. Anyway, apart from God, I don't think a greatest anything exists.

Sure, there's a great, and a greater, but no greatest exists. A greatest anything, depends on a person's opinion, not on fact. Because in fact, there are a lot of amazing things, so how can you put a greatly useful item above another. Can you say that you can't live without fire, but can do so without a wheel. Literally, yeah you can actually. But without either, life's standard could return to the ones before Egyptians, because even though they lived thousands of years ago, even they had wheels, or derivations of it, without it there would be no pyramids, of which the Nile's Gift is famous for.

Point is, a lot of things are based on opinion, this homework is as well. So thankfully, there is no such thing as a wrong answer here. Unless of course I say that the Fertile Cresent's greatest contribution is the cell phone, which of course if false, because cell phones didn't exist back then. If you believe that they did, please see someone and check if something's wrong with you.

And the third thing I wanted to say is that I'm planning to make a new blog, or two. One for posting videos, curtesy of YouTube, and the other I might make into a mp3 rotation site. Nothing wrong with that right? :D
